At the wonderful age of just 23, DK, one of our well-loved Go-Getters, has had his fair share of experiences within hospitality and events!
Born and raised in London, DK finished college and headed off to the world of work. After a year of working within a variety of venues such as Wembley, Twickenham and the O2 – DK realised this was the life for him! During this time he started running events with youth forum, working closely with Hackney Empire and ran the biggest talent show in their borough. From here, DK’s role developed and he began working in corporate events in supervisory roles, leading the team and becoming an Assistant Manager.
For the past 3 summers DK has worked as Thomas Cook Club as an overseas rep, running hotels and events, in Cyprus and Crete. We know that means Malia, DK! Following all this excitement and experience, DK’s now in Preston at UCLan studying Business and one of our fab Go-Getters.
We asked DK what he thought about working with Get Staffed and we felt very proud when he gave his response ‘I like how it feels as though I am working with life-long friends. When I receive my confirmation text with the Event Manager’s name, I know I’m in for a good shift. Working within this team makes 8-10 hour shifts feel like 3-5 hours!’
Working with a start-up business which is growing rapidly, DK stated ‘ I feel like seeing a company go from local to national, is more beneficial than starting at a company which is already at their end goal. I think this will contribute towards my goal of becoming a regional manager of a marketing or event company.’
As an ambitious, hard worker who always wanting to go the extra mile, we’re absolutely positive that DK will achieve all he sets out to do. He has an excellent sense of humour and we often receive wonderful feedback on DK’s Go Get ‘Em attitude. In his words… ‘Litty as hell’. So out of the loop, I’m not even sure what that means.
